Microsoft’s Edge computing business, which could help to boost its earnings per share in the first half of 2018 by as much as $300 billion, could be the company’s “most valuable” business by the end of the year, according to analysts at BNP Paribas.
The analyst group said it expects Microsoft’s sales of Edge hardware and software to rise by $200 billion to $1 trillion.
BNP believes that the rise will come as Microsoft’s stock continues to fall as people become less comfortable with its products and services, and it also believes that Microsoft’s earnings will grow by about 15% to $6.5 billion from the same period last year.
BNP expects Microsoft to sell more than a billion devices with Edge in 2018.
It says that Microsoft will also make a significant amount of profit from licensing its Edge software to third parties.
Microsoft’s Surface Pro is the companys most expensive Windows device, and its Surface Pro 4 is priced at $1,299.
Microsoft has said it plans to release a version of its Edge operating system that runs on more of its products.
In its earnings release on Thursday, Microsoft said it will add more devices with the Edge operating systems to the company s hardware lineup, which will be available starting in March.
